Black Cherry Almond Muffins

In a large bowl mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add the cherries and toss to coat. In a small bowl beat the eggs with a fork then stir in the milk and butter. Add to the flour mixture and stir just until blended. Fill the greased pans 2/3rds full. Sprinkle the tops with almonds and sugar. Bake in a preheated oven at 400° until it tests clean, 20 to 25 minutes.
