Cook the fettuccine according to the package directions. Saute the mushrooms and green onions in butter in a large saucepan until tender, roughly 3 minutes. Add the cream to the skillet. Bring to boiling, then lower the heat and gently boil, uncovered until slightly reduced, roughly 5 minutes. Add the peas, chicken, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally until hot. When the fettuccine is cooked, drain. Transfer to a large serving bowl. Pour the chicken mixture over the top and sprinkle with cheese. Toss gently to mix well.
