Date Torte

Ingredients:

• 1 cup warm water
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup seedless dates, chopped
• 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
• 1 cup flour
• 1 teaspoon soda

Instructions:

Mix eggs, water, sugar, dates and butter together. Add nuts to the mixture. Sift flour and soda together and then stir into the mixture. Pour into a 9-inch square or round pan. Bake at 300° for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean. After cooling, cut and serve with whipped topping.
