Beat the butter, 1/2 a cup of sugar and egg at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy and well blended. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground nutmeg, then add to the butter mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Beat at low speed until blended after each addition. Spoon into greased miniature 1 3/4-inch muffin pans, filing two-thirds full. Bake at 350° for 14 to 16 minutes, then remove from the pans immediately. Combine 1/4 cup of sugar with the cinnamon, Dip the tops of the muffins in 2 tablespoons of melted butter and then in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
