French Breakfast Puffs

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. In another mixing bowl, beat the egg slightly, then stir in the milk and 1/3 cup of melted butter. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture. Stir just until moistened. Lightly grease the muffin cups. Fill the cups about 2/3rds with batter. Bake in a 350° for 20 to 25 minutes or until the muffins are golden. Meanwhile, in a shallow bowl combine the 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon. Immediately dip the tops of the hot muffins into the 1/4 cup of melted butter, then into the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated. Serve warm.
