Heavenly Biscuits

In a small bowl, sprinkle the yeast over the warm water. Stir in the sugar and set aside until the mixture turns foamy (roughly 10 minutes). In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. With a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in th ebutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add yeast mixture and milk, then mix lightly with fork until well combined. Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place, away from drafts, until it doubles in size (roughly 30 minutes). Grease a large baking sheet. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/2-inch thickness. With a 3-inch round cutter, cut out 12 biscuits, re-rolling the dough if necessary. Place biscuits on the greased baking sheet. With the tines of a fork, pierce the biscuits lightly a few times. Let the biscuits rise for 45 minutes. Heat the oven to 375°. Bake the biscuits for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
