Cream the butter thoroughly, then gradually add the sugar. Beat until lightly and fluffy. Beat together the eggs, vanilla and baking powder. Add to the butter mixture. Sift together the flour, soda and salt, then stir into the mixture. Blend until evenly mixed. Let stand until firm enough to handle. Shape into 1-inch balls. Roll in cereal and place on a cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Poke a hold in each ball with your finger and fill with jam or jelly. Bake at 350° until firm, roughly 20 minutes.
