Pecan Torte

Beat the whites until stiff, then beat in 1/4-cup confectioners sugar and set aside. Without washing the beater, beat the yolks until thick and lemon-colored. Beat in the remaining confectioners sugar, then add the pecans, chocolate, cracker crumbs and baking powder. Fold into the beaten whites. Spoon into a 9-inch pan and bake at 325° for 25-35 minutes in a preheated oven. Let cool, then split into 2 layers. Put together with whipped cream.
