Potato Soup

Cook potatoes in boiling salted water until tender. Melt butter in a 3-quart kettle until it turns golden brown. Add the carrots and onions to the butter, cover and cook until tender. Remove carrots and onions from heat and blend in the flour, then stir in the milk. Add half of the potatoes to this mixture. Mash the rest of the potatoes and add the mash along with the rest of the ingredients to the mixture. Heat until steaming hot and serve.
