Peel the shrimp and devein, if desired. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat, then add the shrimp and saute for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the shrimp with a slotted spoon. Melt the remaining butter in a skillet over medium-high heat, then add the garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add the wine and cook for 4 minutes or until the mixture is reduced by half. Stir in the whipping cream and cook, stirring occasionally for 4 to 5 minutes or until thickened. Add the shrimp, cheese and herbs, then cook, stirring occasionally, just until the cheese melts. Serve over the fettuccine.
