Sugar Cookies

Preheat your oven to 400°. Place the margarine, butter and 1 cup of sugar in a large mixing bowl and beat until very creamy. Beat in the vanilla and lemon extract. Add the egg and mix well, then add 1 cup flour and blend well. Dissolve the baking soda in milk and add it to the batter. Add the remaining flour and baking powder and stir well. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured board and roll between 1/8 and 1/4-inch thick. Cut cookies out with large cookie cutters in desired shapes. Place the cookies on a baking sheet and brush lightly with egg white and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly golden.
